Pre-Trip & Post-Trip Inspections: щоденна перевірка перед поїздкою (pre-trip) та після (post-trip); ключові зони: engine compartment (oil, coolant, belts, hoses), front brakes & wheels (brake drums, slack adjusters, lug nuts), tires (pressure, tread depth, cuts, bulges), lights & signals (headlights, brake lights, turn signals), coupling system (fifth wheel, kingpin, locks), suspension & steering, air brake system (pressure build-up, low air warning, governor cut-out).
Common Components & Checks: fluids (engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid), air system (compressor, dryer, tanks, lines for leaks), exhaust system, battery & cables, mirrors & windshield, wipers & washers, emergency equipment (fire extinguisher, triangles, first aid kit).
Defects & Problems: leaks (oil, coolant, air, fuel), cracks/gouges (drums, rims), wear (tires tread, brake pads), loose parts (lug nuts, bolts), abnormal sounds (hissing air, grinding brakes), dashboard warnings (ABS light, check engine).
Reporting & Compliance: defect report/daily vehicle inspection report (DVIR), out-of-service (OOS) criteria, when to report to mechanic/dispatcher, preventive maintenance (PM) schedules (oil change, filter replacement).
Basic Tools & Terms: air pressure gauge, flashlight, chocks, reflective triangles, dipstick, sight glass.
